FOR THE LOVE OF GOD'S COUNTRY Photographs by Brian M. Cassidy

These pictures, made over a period of several years, are my attempt to articulate something of a contemporary mood. This mood seems to me to contain solitude, loss and a particular kind of luminous absurdity. The private emotional realities of people within shared, celebratory spaces are what interest me most. While guided largely by intuition, I see in retrospect that I have tried time and again to locate that which is uneasy and to make visible the inertia of a misguided dream.
